Yes, what you see is what you get. And what you see before you is the “Actor-Character.” Not just the Actor, not just the Character, but the entity in front of you that you and your character must deal with.

Get those frustrating “characters” to respond to you
So accept what’s in front of you and find out what you have to do to get what you need from them in the scene. No more whining about what you’re getting or not getting from the other actor! And yes, that includes those audition readers who drone on and never look you in the eye. Treat them as the “Actor-Character” and you’ll be more alive than you dreamed as you try to get those frustrating “characters” to respond to your own character’s needs.

Testimonials
"Most acting classes offer scene study and critique, but it is much more unusual to run into someone who is willing and able to guide the actor through several scenes from a feature-length script, with cameras, in order to create the experience of developing a character in a real film. This difference has clearly made a difference — at least if the performances I observed at Maravilla are any indications. The talent on display was noticeable, but even more impressive was the discipline, as well as the strong sense of an entire cast and crew working as a team. Come to think of it, the best analogy would be to an actual film set, which is, I suppose, the point."Donelan
