“The actor will be cast from his ‘qualities,’ what is seen and felt during the first few seconds of an audition. Getting the role means that the package was clear, the performance alive, and the type appropriate.”
How do casting people see you? What’s the best way to put your best foot forward during auditions in order to book that role?
During the first four weeks, students discover three to five surprisingly diverse character types that perfectly match their "look" and presentation. These are the roles that will comprise 95% of your casting over the next 3-5 years. Then, working on appropriate material, actors discover how to fulfill each type in order to present themselves as a complete, castable acting package. Actors emerge with much greater self-knowledge and confidence in their recorded or in-person auditions. These character types have other, extensive applications including headshots, agent submissions, marketing materials, etc.

N.B. All courses progress in a logical and consecutive sequence. Furthermore, students are frequently turned away once the maximum number of participants has been reached. For these reasons, students who begin the session agree to complete the entire session and are, therefore, financially responsible for that session.

*Winter-Spring courses consist of two segments: the first six or seven weeks of intensive instruction followed by a one-week break, and then another six or seven weeks of advanced material. While you have the option to enroll in just the first seven weeks or the last seven weeks, participating in both sessions is best for a complete understanding and mastery of the curriculum.
"Most acting classes offer scene study and critique, but it is much more unusual to run into someone who is willing and able to guide the actor through several scenes from a feature-length script, with cameras, in order to create the experience of developing a character in a real film. This difference has clearly made a difference — at least if the performances I observed at Maravilla are any indications. The talent on display was noticeable, but even more impressive was the discipline, as well as the strong sense of an entire cast and crew working as a team. Come to think of it, the best analogy would be to an actual film set, which is, I suppose, the point."Donelan
